1946 CHEVROLET ½ TON PICKUP

The 3100-series Chevrolet ½ Ton Pickup was produced from 1941 to 1946 with only small changes. From the last year of production, this vehicle was purchased in 2000 from an American truck collector and brought to our Museum. Boasting the rich chrome front looks of the year and the Art-Deco design style, the Chevrolet’s steel cab is identical to the 1940 design. 1946 Chevrolet 3100, smallest of the truck models, except the Sedan Delivery, have a lot of features in common with 1946 Chevrolet automobiles. The most commonly known is that it uses an automobile engine.

Originally named simply as the “A” series in 1941, the model descriptions included numbers (such as 3100) from 1942 on. This vehicle is a 3104, the number (4) representing the Pickup model. Chevrolet truck production had begun with the 1 Ton “Model T” in January, 1918. The much-loved 3104, which is the model of our Museum, was used commonly in Turkey and can still be found in the back of beyond. The model gave way to the new Advance-Design body in May 1, 1947.

In the 1941-1946 period, Chevrolet truck body design with its Art-Deco themes produced a commercial vehicle, featuring a standard chrome front grille, which perhaps boasted the most elegant looks of the time. The equivalent civilian model of Chevrolet, also used during wartime, was produced in 48 models of different sizes over the six-year period.
