1950 CHEVROLET ½ TON PICKUP

On June 28, 1947, Chevrolet ended production of the Art-Deco design model that had been introduced in 1941 and used during the War, begin the production of this new Advance Design series of trucks. After seven years of development, the design used very strong “Uni-steel Cab” construction featuring welded front, back, floor and roof.
Contrary to the previous model, this design featured modern body lines with bigger dimensions and improved features. It impressed automobile buyers and remained in production with barely noticeable minor changes until 1955. The HP model here is a 3104 Pickup, the smallest capacity in the truck class after the automobile style Sedan Delivery and uses the consistently reliable 90 bhp “Thriftmaster” engine. In fact, though the chrome “CHEVROLET THRIFTMASTER” emblem on both sides of the hood was only officially used in 1947 and 1948, our Pickup is from 1950, and it bears the emblem used in the earlier years. 

Priced at 1,243 Dollars in 1950, the 3104 Pickup sold 179,536 numbers: 46% of all ½ Ton models that year. Available in four different models, the Pickup, DeLuxe Panel, Carryall Suburban and Canopy Express (panel van with open sides), the 3100 also had five different chassis models for special bodies.
